time for a footstool, I guess!

…and that’s the truth.

Anticipating that we may be spending some long hours sitting in it, I picked up some pretty thick 3″ foam to make the bottom cushion. When I tested it out in the chair, I could barely touch the ground with the tips of my toes on one foot! Oopsie! I’m going to look like Lily Tomlin rocking a baby.

Yesterday I made blueberry muffins in case I woke up super early craving baked goods again. The thought was that maybe if I curbed the craving I would be able to go back to sleep. Luckily, I slept really well (except for the 4am potty break). We’ll see how tonight goes. I still have some muffins left if I need them. 🙂

This week’s trend?

Waking up at 5:30am and not being able to go back to sleep. Lately I’ve been waking up a couple of times a night, but fall right back to sleep…but twice now I’ve been wide awake, tired, and wishing I was sleeping at 5:30. And both times I’ve been craving pastries from bakeries that aren’t open that early! The agony!

crazy pregnancy craving

At about 6:00am in my sleepless state after a trip to the bathroom I had a sudden craving for a chausson aux pommes. (This is the second time in my pregnancy that I’ve had that craving.) For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a pastry filled with tart yummy applesauce.  I tried to go back to the sleep, but the baby was doing some good morning aerobics and I knew that if I fell asleep at that point I would be extra groggy and tired when my alarm went off about an hour later. Plus, I have a lot to do today…and am I making good use of my extra morning time? Probably not. Oh well. Anyway, back to my story…So I laid there, thinking about the chausson aux pommes and how if I was in France I could walk out my door at 6:30am and find a boulangerie around the corner where the pastries were hot out of the oven. But I’m not in France, so I got up, went over to our neighborhood Safeway, and picked up a tiny roll of crescent dough so I could make my own with the delicious organic raspberry applesauce that I found at Albertsons the other day. That wasn’t the wisest choice of dough (next time I’ll try phyllo), but hey, it was 6:30am. It’s still pretty good and seems to be hitting the spot. Mine certainly aren’t as pretty as the one in the photo, though!

I’ve spent pretty much the entire day trying to pick out fabric to make curtains for the baby’s room. After visiting 3 different fabric stores and lots of online searching, I’ve made a decision (and even ordered the fabric! yikes!). I had hoped to buy the fabric today (locally), but they didn’t have enough of it at the store. I also picked out a coordinating fabric to make cushions for my rocking chair, but didn’t buy it since I wasn’t sure at the time what I would end up with for the curtains.

Good news for Queen Bee fans!

The Queen Bee studio just extended their shopping hours to include Saturdays from 11am – 6pm! It’s perfect for those of you who work during their regular hours (Monday thru Friday 9am – 5pm). Have you seen their latest creations? They have all sorts of fantastic new products including recycled wool bags, recycled banner totes (nice and sturdy for trips to the grocery store!), and my favorite…the printed bags! And for the other mommies-to-be out there, check out Chickpea Baby for all of your stylish diaper bag needs!

36 weeks!

taken today…my hair is a little weird because of the rain…

We had a midwife appointment today. It was with one of the midwives that I hadn’t met yet. Apparently she felt I’m not gaining enough weight (even though everyone else has said my weight gain is on track). She was very suspicious of my eating habits and asked me if I’ve ever had problems with food. I thought she meant problems with my weight, but realized later she was asking me if I’ve ever had an eating disorder. Does it look like my belly isn’t getting enough to eat?! Because that baby sure gets bigger and bigger all the time! Just look back at the photo from 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I will try to gain some weight before my appointment next week, but I promise I’m eating plenty. You can ask anyone in my office and Quentin – they’ll all tell you that I eat all the time.

In other news, the baby is still head down and moves a lot. She’s a busy girl.

36 weeks!

We’ve now hit 36 weeks! Woah! Next week the baby is considered full term. I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow for the first time since before Christmas, so I’ll take this week’s photo after my hair cut!

I’ve been feeling pretty good – headaches aren’t as bad, which is nice. Energy level is so-so, but I seem to be getting the most important things done (just not as much as I’d like…which is pretty usual for me). The past three days were scorching hot and I couldn’t do anything but drink ice water and sweat on the couch. Today feels much better! We got the crib put together and the baby’s room is coming along well! I need to get frames for a few prints and then we can start hanging things on the walls. We seem to have most of the essentials taken care of, although there are a few things we’re going to get to fill in the gaps. I can’t believe we’re going to have our little lady here with us sometime in the upcoming weeks!

Tiny load of laundry #3 is currently in the wash. I just love doing itty bitty laundry. I’m sure the novely will wear off when I’ve done 100 loads, but load 3 is still fun.

My waist is now 11″ larger than usual. Wow!

Today I was craving Sweet Tarts. I know that’s not a healthy snack, but I’ve really been into tangy things the past few months.

The vomit count has been raised to 4 as of last Sunday before Crafty Wonderland (although it was really more of a spit-up than a vomit – sorry for the details!). I should know better than to brush my teeth immediately after downing a glass of milk. yuck.
