Totinette’s New Mommy Tip #3: Prioritize Your Heart Out!

adorable hat by Knot Ugly,

One thing I learned very quickly after Matilda was born is that the duration of nap time is ever changing. It’s hard to say just how long I’ll have both hands free at once. Sometimes I dawdle and take too long doing silly things and then run out of time before I can make myself lunch. Other times I go through tasks with lightning speed and an “it’s now or never” attitude.

So here’s my tip for you new moms to keep yourselves sane… decide what is the ONE most important thing on your to-do list each day and make it your goal to get it done when you have your hands free. (Maybe your #1 is to take a nice shower and actually blow dry your hair! Some days it should be…it feels like such a luxury now!) When you do have both hands free, if you have the choice between two tasks, always start with the most important in case you run out of time. You can also choose a couple of extra tasks to focus on if you get your #1 done, but don’t beat yourselves up if you don’t make it to items #2 and 3 on the list. Remember, you’re taking good care of your baby and that’s your real #1 priority! (And much more fun than checking things off your to-do list!)

Bargain Hunting 101

Not into the Super Bowl? Yeah, me neither. Although I do enjoy some of the commercials, it’s painful to have to sit through an entire football game on tv just to see them. Guess what I’m doing instead! Shopping! It’s time for another Bargain Hunting 101 – a gathering of my favorite local shops and designers selling their goods at discount prices. Almost makes me want to yell, “Touchdown!”…but I won’t. And did I mention there is free parking and a full bar? Check out the full vendor list here. Highlights (for me) include Mabel & Zora, Mink, Frock, Knot Ugly, Queen Bee and, of course, Monsieur T.!

Monsieur T. turns 5!!!

I’m so proud of Quentin and how much he has grown his company over the past 5 years. For those of you who don’t know the back story, he helped me produce a t-shirt for Totinette way back in the day when I made handbags. He thought it was so fun he decided to start making and selling his own shirts. I think his first “line” had 2 designs. Now he sells all over the world and is continually getting press in streetwear magazines and blogs. He works so hard on his business and I’m so happy to see that it continues to grow. Please show him some love and shop his 5 year anniversary sale!

Strawberry Cravings

Well hello again! I took a little blog writing haitus to recooperate from the holidays, but I’m back! This year I’m interested in simplifying my life. Having a new baby has made me rethink what is important and how I’d like to spend my little bit of free time. I just moved all of my pregnancy blog (strawberry cravings) over here and will hopefully migrate my old livejournal account over here soon. That way everything except my real estate blog (which really needs to be separate) is here in one place! Simplified!

So if you’re pregnant (or interested in reading about someone who was), the “pregnancy” category should have all of the posts about my crazy cravings and ever expanding body.
