The beginning of a new month is always an exciting time. Not because bills are due again, but because it’s time for more art openings! This week is full of great shows featuring some of my favorite local artists and friends.
Thursday: Catch Ryan Berkley’s solo show “Sophisticated Menagerie” at Reading Frenzy, then head upstairs to IPRC for the release of Scrappers’ new book Camp! Both events begin at 6:00 and will probably go until about 9:00 or so.
Friday: Celebrate America Grass Hut Style! They’re having a big group show (with artwork by my cousin, the very talented Tom Webb!) and a BBQ with hot dogs, lemonade, beer and fireworks! The fun starts at noon.
I’ve been really into children’s art lately…especially since I’ve been pregnant…so I’m really excited about the new show opening at Grass Hut Gallery next week. It’s artwork by Tim & Tigerlily Biskup. How cute is that?! Click on the image for more details.
Time for one of my favorite events…The Buckman Art Show + Sell! It’s a fundraiser for Buckman elementary school, an arts magnet school near my office. Cathy’s son Levi is a student there and it is such a cool place! The art show features work by students, plus over 100 NW artists. There are always lots of amazing things there and a percentage of all sales is given directly to the school.
I have been anxiously awaiting the I Heart Mr. T art show…and the day is finally arriving! It opens tomorrow at Moshi Moshi’s new location on W Burnside (next to Billy Galaxy). If you live in Portland this will definitely be worth a visit!!
